In A Life (S. Goldberger)

In a life there's hope and dreams of love and wishes made of gold
But as years go by reality sinks in
And takes its bitter hold and stays until you're old.

In a life we live and dream of a peace that can't be bought and sold
But the fear and hate that has lived forever
Will always be our ball and chain as we cause each other such pain

In a life, the moments just speed by
In a life, they're gone in the blink of an eye

In a life you hope to have good friends who'll be there when you cry
Oh but when your world comes crashing down,
And you thought that they would be around,
They always let you down.

In a life, the road you take is your own
In a life, sometimes you gotta go it alone
In a life, the time goes by so fast
In a life, gotta make the good times last

In a life we have a power to heal and help our fellow man
But we sit around crying 'why why me?"
When we could be out there lending a hand -
And doing the best that -
-- could be out there taking a stand -
-- could be out there leading the band
And doing the best that we can.
